Sunday 18th July - bike ***** - Landguard for breakfast – sunny, still and hot.

It is actually getting hotter and hotter with next to no wind making it an ideal day for some stand up paddle boarding but first we decided to bike over to Landguard for breakfast but with Arlo waking first we decided to have it at home first just taking some Lidl pastries with us on our bike ride. Leaving home at 9.35 and on reaching the cliff top at the end of our road the sea was like a mill pool. Down to the which was fairly busy already with loads of families on the beach too with many swimmers and paddle boarders:) It was nicer when we reached Landguard Nature Reserve being much quieter, Mag and Hannah biked straight to the pier while Rob, Arlo and me made a detour to the view point to see the container ships. We soon all meet up with the girls sitting on the wooden sleepers in a gentle breeze with beautiful views with few people about. With the tide low there was a little beach below the pier so I took Arlo down for a paddle and to throw some stones in and was quickly joined by Hannah in her swim suit and she swam around the pier! The old wooden barge was again out and a lifeboat came whizzing in too. Arlo and I had great fun in the waves caused by the lifeboat and saved a couple of starfish stranded on the sand. Then we had our cakes before continuing back through the reserve and inland to Langer Park for Arlo to play before heading for home. I played with Arlo on the big Brio train track while Rob made lunch for the second part of our adventure!
